Smokin` Whiskey Band

Mitzi Beliveau

I have heard this band play many times before, and it has been a few years since I last wrote about them. Long before COVID 19. I have to say this band is close to my heart because of their music and the friendship of the lead singer, bass guitarist, and lead guitar.

When I was in the ICU during COVID-19, the lead singer, James, sent me videos of him singing sweet, loving, inspirational songs to be strong. I have to say, James Blackstad kept my courage up in a terrible place where I was getting abused. I wrote about James during his first live stage presentation with this band, Smokin` Whiskey Band. After a few notes of singing with his unique raspy voice, I knew James would be a great fit with the Smokin` Whiskey Band.

My long-time friend Rick Steven is the lead guitar player. I met Rick and his wife in another band and fell in love with a fantastic lead guitar. Rick is one of the best I have heard in decades. He plays the guitar effortlessly while mesmerizing his fans. Another secret is that he is also a great singer and a very kind and gentle person.

Next is the bass guitar player J. D. Rastletter, another long-time friend who is always friendly and upbeat. I see J. D. trying to see as many of his fans as possible to see how they are doing. Yes, J. D. is that kind of man. Plus, he is a great bass guitar man, keeping the band on task with attitude.

Dummer is Rick O`Leary. He has the beat and pazazz of the band, keeping everyone on the beat. He also has the flare of true rock and roll. He is a humble man who checks in on his bandmates.

The other guitar musician is Andee. Some people think the second guitar musician doesn’t matter, but Andee makes harmonic music that blends into the band, making it perfect. I found Andee to be shy with me, but he does not know me well. I am sure we will be great friends in the future.

So there we have the members of the Smokin` Whiskey Band, a perfect and true rock and roll band offering some of the best rock and roll music. They will make your head and body go with the beat. Your mind will be filled with the delight of the total perfection of well-put-together music by genuinely magical and seasoned musicians and singers. The Smokin` Whiskey Band has been playing since January 2010.
