Tribune to BB King with Squishy Mud, Big Daddy Cade, and Pat Hayes

I was invited to a blues concert by one of my friends. I was a bit hesitant to go because I already was hosting a dance that night. I will never regret going. I was rewarded with great food, the best wait staff and to top it off some of the best Blues singers and musicians in America.

It first started off with my friend driving and being my fellow Blues fan. As we enter the area to pay the cover charge at Famous Daves Blues Club in Minneapolis, MN. I was on the guest list. The lady asked my name. All I said was my first name and immediately she said I know who you are. She didn’t have to look up my name. It seems people say I am a famous writer in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Area. This is an honor.

I was delighted with Squishy Mud Band to start the show. I am never disappointed with their music. I often go off on my own and attend many of their gigs, it is one of my indulgences. Squishy Mud Band is one of the best Blues band in the Metro Area. The main guitar is played by Jim Stairs a distinguished leader in the blues community. When Jim plays the guitar, it sings with angelic music. All you hear is blissful music to your ears. Jim’s voice could calm and cause joy to senses to anyone’s heart.

There were two men on the keyboards/piano. Both excellent and traded off instruments while they played that night. One was the famous Paul Wigen, Paul has quite a following of women. Women love his voice and I hear oh and ahhs as he serenades the crowds with his music and voice. I have heard many in the local Blues community say Paul is the best of the best keyboard player and singer.

Added that night were others who the best of the best local blues members. On the bass was Big Daddy Cades wife. She rocked the base and you could feel the vibration of deep love through your whole body as she played. The drummer beat was right on and he kept the music on the temple and the dancer could easily keep the beat of the music. There was a saxophone player that sax sang beautifully and could have blown your sock off with the love of the and feeling of the deep wonderful music. Big Daddy Cade daughter also come on stage to see back up for a few songs. What a sweet angelic voice. Great music runs in the family.

Last was Big Daddy Cade. Not one of our Twin Cities locals but was a very welcome guess to the local Blue community. He voice was compared to BB King, but I have to say, he was better. I can see why he is known throughout America. He played his guitar like I have never heard before. I fell in love with the music of  Big Daddy Cade and his guitar that night! Everyone was memorized and in a trance by the magnificent music and singing. What a warm-hearted man who sang his heartfelt emotions in his music. Now I know what they call him Big Daddy. He is the best of the best blues daddy in America!

Gentlemen if you want to know who to treat your lady, listen to the songs Big Daddy Cade wrote and sings. Big Daddy Cate is the one event you want to go to for a romantic date or great music. I would go again next time he comes into town.
